Can heating pills cause cancer? I've been told that using a heating pad every morning for 10-12 minutes could cause me to develop cancer in an internal organ, due to electrical radiation. Right? The heat helps the extremist before the exercise. Silence 29 June 2007 Appliances such as heating pads, electric blankets and mattress covers, plug-in hairdryers, computers and coffee makers generate electromagnetic fields (EMF), invisible lines of force that surround the electrical equipment, power cables and electric lines. Over the past two decades, researchers have been investigating whether these EMFs can disrupt internal body control systems and increase the risk of cancer or weaken the immune system. So far no studies have been confirmed that the EMFs increase the risk of adult cancer. (Some studies have suggested a link between EMF and childhood leukemia, but here the evidence relates to the proximity of the electrical lines, not household appliances.) The bad news is that the possibility of an EMF/cancer connection has not been definitively discarded. Although researchers have not found compelling evidence that EMFs directly damage biological structures, including DNA, or otherwise increase the likelihood of malignant cell transformation, ongoing studies are analyzing whether EMFs can promote cancer that already exists or disrupt normal cell function. Some research has suggested that exposure to low-level magnetic fields emitted by appliances such as hair dryer, electrical blankets and electric shavers can damage DNA in brain cells. The data comes from a rat study at the University of Washington, which found DNA damage in animals exposed to a field of 60 hertz for 24 hours; more damage was found after 48 hours. Henry Lai, Ph.D., the head of the study, said that data from this and a previous study suggest that the effects of the exposure are cumulative and can be accumulated in humans over time as a result of a repeated short use of common plug-in appliances. It suggests limiting exposure to the shortest possible time, especially with devices used near the body. The strength of the EMFs falls exponentially as the distance from the source increases. So move clock radios plug away from your head and keep the hair dryers further. Because we can't say for sure that EMFs pose no risks, I would advise you to use a non-electric heating pad, such as one that heats in hot water or microwave. Are heating pills safe and effective? Thermotherapy has been popular even in prehistoric times. In fact, many people prefer it with cryotherapy (cold therapy) or with free selling painkillers. Heat therapy is a cheap and convenient option these days. Just go to any pharmaceutical store, and you can easily get your hands on one. However, with benefits come side effects. Are heating pads safe and effective? Let's find out, what's heat therapy? Heat therapy works to relax the tense muscles. The cramps, spasms and muscle knots respond exceptionally to heat therapy. They show a great relief by fighting chronic pain or muscle stiffness. Heat increases blood circulation to the affected muscle area. As blood is precipitated, it brings oxygen and a wide variety of chemicals that can help overcome painful spasms. In addition, this also improves muscle stiffness by promoting mobility. Heat therapy can be provided by several different methods. You can use hot bottles to relieve pain, but this is the least safe option. The heating packages that can be heated in the microwave or heat by soaking in hot water are non-electric heating options that could be used. However, the most advanced, modern and effective heat therapy option is the use of heating pads. With that said, do they really work? The heating pads work like any other electrical device inside your home. They generate electromagnetic field lines (EMF) to operate. These are invisible to the eye, but are generated from electrical appliances, electrical wiring and power cables. Once the heating pad turns on, the EMF generates and dissipates the heat. The heat passes through a few inches in the tissues, and this works to trigger knots to get rid of the pain. Although, these lines of force are believed to be harmful to their own health. In fact, the use of hair dryers and electric shavers has proven to cause DNA damage. Are the heating pills safe? The safety of heating pads depends on several things. To work on the safety of heating pads, we will divide this section into two. First we will talk about when you should use them and then follow when not to use them. When to apply heat therapy? For non-inflammatory Injuries We mentioned earlier how heating pads relieve muscle pain, stiffness and spasms. This shows that heating pads work best for non-inflammatory lesions. Non-inflammatory lesions refer to acute pain. This could be the pain you find when you hit the gym after taking a break for quite a while. The boring pain in the muscles is relieved quickly as soon as a heating pad is placed on the area. Non-inflammatory pain could also be the result of muscle knots, which is best known as "un trigger points". Muscle knots are mainly the result of over-exhaustion. When you put too much stress on a muscle, it tends to develop trigger points, which leaves the feeling of muscle pain. For chronic pain You can also use pads for temporary relief of chronic pain. This may be related to osteoarthritis when you have severe joint pain, especially on your knees. Putting a heating pad on the knees helps to overcome the pain. For better results, you can follow thermotherapy with specific exercises as advised by your physiotherapist. For menstrual crampsPlacing a heating pad on your lower pelvis can also relieve menstrual cramps. However, it is necessary to ensure that the heating pad is not in direct contact with your belly as this can cause your skin to burn. For neck painIntensive use of screens, especially laptops and computer screens while studying or working, may result in neck pain. To overcome acute pain in the neck, you can place a heating pad over the area. Also, make sure that the heating pad is not left on for more than 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn it off and let the muscles rest. Quick tip: You can get rid of these heat therapy problems in most cases. However, it is important to always add other things to your therapy plan, starting with some exercises that specifically target the muscle area is essential. Also, taking acetaminophen or any other free-sale pain relief medication is also highly beneficial. You may take any medication as prescribed by your doctor with a proper dose. Then again, if you feel that pain persists and does not show any improvement even after a planned therapy course is done, then check immediately with your doctor. When not applying heat therapy Although there are many advantages of using heating pads, there are also some drawbacks. Thermotherapy makes certain medical conditions worse. Do not use for fresh injuries You should never use a heating pad on a fresh injury. What's a fresh injury? An inflated tissue that appears to be red or swollen and is associated with pain. The skin on the area will be sensitive to touch. Therefore, these things indicate that your injury is fresh and should not be treated with heat. The best way to treat such injuries is cold therapy. Do not use excessively Do not use heating pads excessively. You could overheat the area and cause the temperature regulation of your body to be interrupted. Exposing your body to EMF for a longer duration of time could also cause damage to your body. It is not used for muscle havoc It is important to note that heating pads should not be used directly on the skin. There must be a layer of clothing between the heating pad and the skin. You can place a towel, cloth piece, or any other material suitable to prevent heat burns and irritation. You can use heating pads for trigger points, which is muscle knots, but you can't use it for muscle tension. Muscle tension is a sign of physical damage, a maturation in the muscle. It is therefore important to know the difference between the two. Do not use during pregnancy We have saved the most important point for the last: pregnancy. The use of pads to relieve pain is not recommended during pregnancy. This tends to raise the body temperature not only of the mother but also of the baby. An increase in the body temperature of the baby interrupts normal growth. Final Thoughts Are heating pads safe? Yes and no. Like anything else, heating pads have advantages and disadvantages.
